Windsor Feminist Theatre
Windsor Feminist Theatre is performing ”Riveter” at the Windsor Fringe festival week of July 18th, 2011 at Capitol Theatre.
Description of “Riveter”, included on the Fringe Festival website:
“Windsor Feminist Theatre’s RIVETER – an original, local production written and directed by Joey Ouellette – is a socially and historically relevant look at the efforts of women in the workforce during World War II, and the subsequent loss of their jobs upon the end of the war and the return of the men. It is a generally dramatic,
and often comedic reflection of a time when attitudes and stereotypes had to adapt to a new reality, and the women of this country fought to change stereotypes and work within the prevalent propaganda of the
time.”

Knitting as Activism
The FRG event for April is going be a “knitting as activism.” Knitting has often been conceptualized as a subversive activity, engaged by women (and men) as a form of activism. In April, FRG members will be engaging in knitting as subversive activity, something new to many of us. Please email us if you are interested in attending. Prior knitting experience not necessary. (In fact, many of us have never picked up knitting needles before.)

In the past we’ve had book clubs (and in the future we will continue to have book clubs). For March we’ve decided to hold a blog club. This month we will be meeting (at a time and place yet to be finalized) to discuss the blog Feministing. For the event we would like attendees to read the blog, pick a post or two you would like to discuss, and join us for the discussion! Details to come.
FRG Zine Workshop
Feminist Zine Workshop
We’re making a feminist zine! Our last feminist zine workshop was so popular we’ve decided to host another one. Last time our theme was “What feminism means to me.” This time our theme is “anti-Valentine’s day.” If you have any crafting supplies or magazines you would like to donate/bring with you to the zine workshop, you are more than welcome (and encouraged!) to do so.
